Many people find me after they have exhausted the common medical remedies for chronic pain. Typically, the Contact form is filled out on my website after which I reach out and schedule a complimentary 20 minute zoom call to understand your current situation and determine avenues to work together. Ailments vary from a frozen shoulder, to sciatica, neck and shoulder stiffness, a rigid pelvis, back pain, knee pain, Barbie feet, fibromyalgia etc. What all these conditions have in common is that there is muscle tension held in the body causing discomfort and pain. Sometimes where it hurts is not where the bracing pattern originates which is why Somatics is a whole-body treatment.
Most of my clients are local here in the Tampa Bay area and wish for in person sessions, but I also offer virtual classes via zoom. Click here for a direct link to find out where I am teaching I typically recommend a series of 5 classes to ensure the technique of Pandiculation is fully understood and executed. Most clients feel a difference after just one class, but it takes a few classes to get a good understanding of the concept. The approach is so contrary to all other exercise classes and concepts we are accustomed to that it requires your undivided attention to be able to do one or two movement sequences autonomously at home. The Arch & Flatten and Flower movements are a wonderful way to start. If the class schedule does not suit your needs or you require more tailored instructions, I offer private sessions as well.
Speaking from personal experience, I found Somatics after 7 years of chronic back pain. After giving up all strengthening exercises such as physical therapy, weight and resistance workouts like Pilates for 2 weeks and instead started practicing Somatics daily, I felt a shift in my movement patterns. I first noticed it when I walked the dog in the morning and felt my hips gently move from side to side with each step I took. Also, my strides had gotten longer, more proportional to my long legs. It felt effortless to walk, almost like walking on clouds. This is when I knew for sure that this approach really was going to alleviate my back pain. It took me about a year to call myself “cured” from chronic back pain. If I can do it, so can you!
